As a homecook, the holy grail of the veggie patch must be the humble tomato! Sweet, beautiful and so versatile, it truly deserves its own place in the spotlight at this time of year!
Join me on my 100 acre property in Kangaloon, just 15 minutes from Bowral in the Southern Highlands, to learn how to preserve these beauties!
28th March – Preserving tomatoes - whole, salsa, chutney and confit!
We'll kick the day off with a morning tea and a quick tour of the gardens, veggie patch and orchard, harvesting the final bits and pieces we will need in the kitchen to get everyone in a "paddock to plate" mood!
We will then get into the kitchen and cook up tomato salsa, learn how to preserve whole tomatoes in a jar, make a beautiful tomato chutney and also learn how to preserve the little beauties in oil.
Naturally we will share a wonderful lunch showcasing the glorious produce of the Southern Highlands along with a glass of local wine!
You will leave the farm with an assortment of preserved tomatoes, a beautiful bunch of herbs and a little gift from me as a thank you for attending!
9.30am – 3.30pm
($280 per person, completely hands on class limited to 8 participants)
